| Vito Mannone (born March 2,
1988) is an
Italian
footballer, who currently plays for
Arsenal. Recently signed by
Arsène Wenger, Mannone is a goalkeeper.
At 17 years of age he is not seen as the immediate first choice ahead of
Jens
Lehmann but is expected to have a bright future in the game. He has signed a
3 year deal with the Gunners after joining from
Atalanta for a £350,000 compensation fee, as the player had not yet signed a
professional contract with the Italian side.
He made his Arsenal debut in a friendly match against
Barnet
on July 16,
2005, as Arsenal
ran out 4-1 winners.
